Ultimately , will Miguel Oliveira continue in MotoGP or not ? The answer to this question is not yet known, but the Portuguese rider insists he feels he has more to give in the premier class .
The Pramac Yamaha man stated it with conviction in an interview with The Race: "I don't regret what I did. I feel that if I left the paddock, I would feel incomplete. I believe that my abilities as a rider are greater than what I did , than what I showed."
Miguel Oliveira convinced of his potential
Although he admits that these statements could be associated with "arrogance" or "presumption," Oliveira emphasized that they reflect his true feelings: "We are in a sport where comparisons are frequent, and when compared to other drivers, I feel I have more . But that's what it is. That's how competition is. Sometimes it can be ruthless."
The future of the Almada-born rider remains uncertain. His contract with Pramac and Yamaha runs until 2026, but his results and performance are far below expectations and the potential the bike has already demonstrated.
Thus, Oliveira could either continue to compete in MotoGP or eventually have to chase a spot in the World Superbike Championship if he can't stay in the pack. And he left a guarantee: " Whatever happens, I'll be fine! That's the message."
Year to forget
The arrival of Miguel Oliveira at Pramac Yamaha at a time when the Iwata manufacturer was progressing suggested the possibility of joint growth.
However, difficulties and challenges arose from the outset. At the Argentine GP, the driver suffered a serious injury that sidelined him for the next three rounds.
The return took place at the French GP, where a potentially strong result in the rain turned into a retirement due to a crash within the last ten laps.
Despite facing obvious difficulties, Miguel Oliveira managed to score points in two races (he finished 15th in Aragon and 13th in Italy). However, he hasn't been able to compete with the other Yamaha riders and sits 25th in the championship with six points. The closest Yamaha rider is Álex Rins, with 42 points.
